And the Grammy Goes To...

Grammy Awards Invitation

In February of 2015, I had the chance to go to the 57th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles California! Obviously, I'm about 2 years late on writing this post. However, at the time I was much more worried about turning in my assignments on time and making sure I didn't accidentally miss "XYZ-super-important-sorority function", and much less worried about memorializing the adventure on the interwebs. But, now that I have some time on my hands, I can finally share a couple of the more memorable parts of the whole experience and hopefully answer some of the questions you may be asking yourself.

Grammy Awards Tickets

You're probably wondering how one even gets invited to something like the Grammys. To make a long story short, I got invited because I joined Recording Academy while in college. However, getting invited was just the first step. The next was actually getting the tickets to go. After an extended period of begging, groveling, and bribing on my part, my parents finally got onboard with the whole idea (Just Kidding lol. Tbh, my mom was more excited than I was). The tickets were first come-first serve, so I had to send my ticket request at the exactly the right moment to even have a chance at getting seats (#stressful). It all worked out though and I got the confirmation soon after! The next thing I knew I was on a plane to California!

Unfortunately, I did not get to actually meet any celebrities. The closest I got was a sneaky picture of Jane Lynch from Glee when we made a pit stop for some pizza before going to our seats.

The whole experience was surreal and a bit of a blur, but my memories of Taylor Swift dancing the whole night through will forever remain in screaming color. It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well. The fact that I even found her from our perch amongst the peasants and amidst the THOUSANDS of people in attendance that night, is actually pretty incredible now that I think about it. After much consideration, I've concluded that this feat was 90% attributed to my finely tuned "I-Spy" skills, and 10% a result of the fact that she was sitting in the front row wearing a big turquoise gown and flailing her arms the whole night.

Overall, it was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I still feel so blessed that I had the opportunity to go. Fingers-crossed that the next time I go I'll be a bit closer to the stage :)
